Sometimes Hard Now Means Better Later

Earlier today, I got a massage from a deep tissue massage therapist named Sherri Morris.

I’ve had other massages — some more spiritual, some less spiritual, but all physically less intense than this one.

I’ve actually been wanting a deeper massage for a long time… but only the ones I get from Barry really make me feel like I’ve had a massage when it’s all said and done.

Today it almost hurt TOO much at times when she was really digging into the sore spots… but I stuck it out, thinking, “No pain, no gain”.

That doesn’t mean life is always about “No pain, no gain” — we don’t ALWAYS have to endure pain in order to get ahead — but sometimes a “good hurt” helps us move forward.

It’s kind of like personal development.  You can read the nice feel-goody books, and walk away feeling pleasant, the way I often do after nice light massages that feel good while they’re being done, but don’t have a lasting physical effect.

Or you can read hard-hitting books that sting a little when you read them, but help you break through your personal blocks in major ways, kind of like the deep-tissue massage.

One of my favorites is Randy Gage’s “Why You’re Dumb, Sick & Broke… And How to Get Smart, Healthy & Rich“.  Randy is one of the secret masters at Masters of the Secret, and his teachings don’t pull any punches — and are very effective.

Because sometimes we have to hurt (either a little or a lot) in order to learn, accept, move forward and conquer the world.

Visualizing the Big Reward… Or Award

Last night the Oscars were on… formally called The Academy Awards, but colloquially called the Oscars (because technically, the Emmy Awards are also Academy Awards, as are Canadian awards like the Geminis and the Genies… they’re all awarded by “The Academy”).

And besides, who wouldn’t want to honor the little gold man named Oscar?

While watching the presentations — and the many flashbacks, since it was the 80th annual show — one thing caught my attention time and time again.

People were talking about all the times they had “pictured” (visualized) that moment onstage… and how they had followed their dreams against all odds.

What does it take to make a dream come true?

  • Vision?
  • Conviction?
  • Ambition?
  • Action?

Or maybe all of the above “ion”s?

Hindsight is 20/20, and looking back on what people have achieved, it’s tempting to say, “Well, it was easy for them… they have (talent, looks, money, fame, whatever, blah-blah-blah)…”

But was it easy for them?

Maybe, because they loved every minute of the journey.

Could it be “easy” for you too?

Why not?

Go for the big reward… and maybe that involves an award, or maybe just the achievement is enough.

But dare to dream… and dream big.

Because if you shoot for the stars, you may hit the moon.

Cat-egorically Shifting Love and Values

Barry and Jupiter in ParkWhat does it take to make a life-long dog lover, who has always disliked cats, into a bona fide cat lover?

You have to shift his (or her) values… through the power of love.

Dr. John F. Demartini – who I interviewed for Masters of the Secret — says that everything we do, everything we notice, everything we excel at, everything we succeed at, is based on our value system.

And so is love… you can’t love what you don’t value.

But sometimes loving another person makes you look at their values in a different light. And that means a shift in values based on that love.

Earlier this week, Barry and I took Jupiter out to the park on a leash for her first journey outside. And in this picture, you can see that he has genuinely turned into a cat lover over the last six months or so… and not just our own cats, but he loves looking at cats in the pet store now, and will even take an unannounced side trip there if we happen to be driving remotely nearby.

So how did that happen, when less than a year ago he said he hated cats?

The Relationship Between Hollywood and You

I just posted an article on the LWLWorldwide blog about Hollywood relationships, and what they mean (or don’t mean) to you…

And it also includes a video from me, and another chance to attend a free tele-call on relationship magic with me and relationship expert Zen DeBrucke this week.

Read, watch, discover, and laugh (or cringe) here.

Another Love Video, And How To Do It Too…

Barry just created our third “Love Without Limits” video to celebrate our love and life (personal and business, since the two often overlap) together… but this time he used a cool whiz-bang automatic video montage creator.

You can get it for free — or upgrade to premium for only $40 a year — and it’s so ridiculously easy that absolutely anyone can create impressive videos and photo montages set to music, in just a few minutes.

Here’s our latest video:

Make video montages at www.LWLMedia.com

And you can create your own at LWLMedia.com…Part 1 and Part 2 were created the “old-fashioned” way of using proper video editing software… but this new service is faster and easier, and comes with cool effects, transitions and templates you can add automatically. As for where we host the videos we create from scratch, we like to use OurVideoHub… the “how to” info there is unsurpassed, too.

So if you missed them… here’s Part 1:

Physics vs. Metaphysics in Health

Sometimes it’s hard to tell which to place bets on… real-world physics, or other-world metaphysics.

For instance, yesterday was “Doctor Day” for me. First I went to get my eyes checked again at the LASIK center in Medford (they’re healing, but one eye still has a ways to go… so I see great out of my left, while the right is fuzzier than ever).

They recommended physical solutions — like continuing to use eye drops to keep my eyes moist and help them heal — although on the side I’ve been using metaphysical solutions, like meditation and visualization, to give that healing a boost.

Would I use just one or the other?

Just rely on physical means of treatment… or just metaphysical?

The Only Hamster Table In Town…

Last night Barry and I went out for Valentine’s Day dinner.

We didn’t know where we were going to go, because by the time Barry called for reservations, everywhere was booked up (in a town of allegedly only 35,000 people — go figure!)

So we just dropped by one place that we’ve been to a few times before, and where we spent part of our New Year’s Eve too…

And wouldn’t you know it, we get the only table in town with hamsters painted on it!Heather and hamsters

This is interesting because one of the pet names that Barry calls me is Hamster… and because I gave him a silver necklace for Valentine’s Day that has a dog tag on it, engraved with a message — and part of that message is “Bear & Hamster”.

(Okay, I know these are probably supposed to be field mice and not hamsters… but they are truly the only ones in town, AND… come on, they look like hamsters!)

So not only did we manifest a nice dinner at a nice restaurant, with no reservations and when every restaurant was booked solid for weeks… but we also manifested it at a table with some symbolic meaning for us.

Never underestimate the power of thought… or what you might feel is a “coincidence”.

The word is synchronicty.

Monksters, and Valentines, and Bears… Oh, My!

A week ago, I was getting ready for LASIK surgery the next day. And I did it — something I had been wanting to do for a long time — but my eyes aren’t healing as quickly as normal, so as a result my vision is still a bit fuzzy. That’s why I haven’t blogged in a week, but I’ll post an update as soon as I’ve got my X-ray vision operating in full power! ;-)

In the meantime, it’s Valentine’s Day… and of course I have to write about that!

Love is the most powerful manifesting emotion there is. Love allows us to overcome all adversity, and wind up in a better, more secure, and happier place as a result.

And as you know, Valentine’s Day is all about love.

MonksterThis morning Bear gave me a stuffed Monkster… Funny, I usually call him “Barry” when I write about him, but it’s always just “Bear” when we’re talking.

My latest nickname, Monkster, came about because if he was Bear, I needed a fuzzy animal name, and that became Hamster since it’s closest to Heather (and I love rodents)…

Then Hamster evolved into Monkster because I’m a Monkey (by Chinese Astrology, but also just because I get into mischeif)… but I’m still a Hamster too.

(Monkey + Hamster = Monkster)

And in looking for a stuffed Monkster, Bear found this little red guy…

The face is all monkey, but the head is pretty hamster-ish… and there’s no tail, so that’s more hamster than monkey too.

To seal the deal, he’s holding a heart that says “Our First Valentine”.

Cute, and appropriate!

Little tokens of love like this are great reminders of the bigger picture — and they allow you to conjure up those loving feelings that allow you to manifest more of what you desire.

Speaking of loving feelings… Bear just finished editing our second in a 2-part series of videos we call “Love Without Limits” (you can watch Part 1 by clicking here…)

Soul Mates and Self-Esteem

What does February have to do with soul mates?

Okay, you probably already know the answer.

What about self-esteem?

The Rainbow After The Rain

On Friday I wrote about a metaphorically “rainy” day in my life

“Everyone wants happiness, no one wants pain, but you can’t make a rainbow without a little rain.”

So since you have to experience the downs before the ups — the rain before the rainbow — now, here’s the rainbow!

It’s a video that Barry made of just a bit of our life together… working, playing, loving and living (thanks to Lifehouse for the music that seems to fit so well!)

Everybody deserves a soul mate that can be their partner on this journey through life, whether it rains or shines.

If you’re looking for your own soul mate, you might also want to pay attention to the website at the end of the video… LoveUnwrapped.com

And now… Lights, Camera… Action!
