We had a lot of fun doing this, and hope that you enjoy the information we shared, and the format we shared it in.

You’re Not All That… But You Can Be!

Larry Winget

For the past few weeks, I’ve been reading some books with some pretty harsh titles.

But hey, Barry and I love that… sometimes people just don’t need to be told how powerful and perfect they are, because it just lets them settle into a comfort zone.

In order to achieve the most they can, sometimes people need to be told, “Here’s how you messed up… and here’s how to fix it!”

So I’ve been reading Larry Winget‘s books that he sent us in preparation of our upcoming interview:

  • Shut Up, Stop Whining And Get A Life: A Kick-Butt Approach to a Better Life
  • It’s Called Work For A Reason: Your Success Is Your Own Damn Fault
  • You’re Broke Because You Want To Be: How to Stop Getting By and Start Getting Ahead
  • People Are Idiots And I Can Prove It: The 10 Ways You Are Sabotaging Yourself and How You Can Overcome Them.

I met Larry on Facebook, and asked him for an interview… he said yes, and we’re doing it on January 15th.

A few years ago, I used MySpace to book interviews with people that I couldn’t contact by email.  But MySpace has run its course of effectiveness for that lately.

People I know are even shutting down their MySpace accounts because of all the spam (I’m keeping mine up, because it’s still a source of backlinks from an authority site… but I almost never log in anymore).

Next I’ll be using Twitter to set up interviews, since it’s fast and interactive. Yes, the social media landscape keeps changing, and I have to change my tactics to go along with it.

But back to Larry Winget… they call him the Pitbull of Personal Development for a reason, and we’re looking forward to taking on those teeth!

To find out more about the interview, and sign up to be part of the free live audience, check out our LWL blog post about Larry.

Banish Fear, Anxiety and Worry!

Let’s face it…

You can’t face the future until you control your fears, and that’s the NUMBER ONE problem most entrepreneurs have that holds them back from the success they deserve.

Fear of not growing. Fear of missing out. Fear of failure. And yes, even the seemingly silly (yet ever-so-present) fear of success! (And that’s really a fear of the unknown, or a fear of things not staying the same… a fear of leaving the comfort zone.)

Now, IF you struggle with fear, anxiety, panic, or worry, Barry and I found a site that will really help you out. Banish your fears by clicking here.

Whether it be passing fears that force you not to act, or full-blown panic attacks, this site has some valuable advice (at least sign up for the free e-course. I just read the first lesson and the tips are something you can use for the rest of your life!)

Most of us do have fears on some level that we deal with on a daily basis.

I remember when I was afraid to act on stage. I loved the camera, but live audiences were another story. Then I was fine with acting, because I could play a character, but I couldn’t give a speech or talk about myself.  My voice would quiver, my hands would sweat, my heart would thump, and my face would flush.

Then I went to Toastmasters for two years, got the highest award level possible (the Distinguished Toastmaster, or DTM), and overcame those fears too.

Then it was a fear of doing my first live teleseminar (which I obviously did anyhow, and many more to follow). And a fear of speaking in front of other internet marketers, in case they knew more than I did (but I overcame that one too).

So fears are normal, but if they hold you back, you need to face them and overcome them…

Sweeet! Our Life MTV-ized!

Barry made us a sweet video of the best moments of our life in 2008.

Wow, it sure brings up some amazing memories… and I end up with tears every time I watch it!  Not just for the memories (good and bittersweet, like seeing our wedding, which is one of the happiest days of my life so far, and Mercury, my special cat who is no longer with us)… but also for the fact that I have a man who would make such a beautiful keepsake for us:

As for the tool he used — that you can also use yourself to create something that cool (yes, really, and just using pictures from your hard drive) — it’s called Animoto.

Now, we’ve mentioned a similar tool in the past called OneTrueMedia.  Both have free and paid options, and we opted for paid with both because of the premium features.

But while OneTrueMedia lets you add video clips and do more editing (like fading the music in and out around the audio on your own video), only Animoto does these highly professional-looking fades, pans, wipes, zooms, and cool edits so that you can look like an MTV producer even if you know nothing about editing… and all with just your digital photographs.

In fact, Animoto was started by former producers from MTV and ABC.

For more on the technical aspects of using this tool, check out Barry’s comprehensive review on the LWL Worldwide blog (it’s our LWL Tool #8).

As for why you’d want to make this kind of video for yourself (the metaphysical, rather than the physical, side of the story)…

Me… A Pinup Calendar Model?

Back in the early 90s, I was a model. I had a sweet-looking portfolio of shots that made me look sexier and more beautiful than anything I saw in the mirror, and I loved working with the camera.

Eventually I got bored of still shots though, and focused my energy on TV.  I thought at first I wanted to be an actor (my first pro gig had actually been in the mid 80s, when I was still an art student, in a film starring then-unknown John Goodman).

But I realized pretty quickly that what I really wanted to do was be myself on camera, and set my sights on becoming a TV show host (which turned out to really be my forte, and I loved it).

However, the still camera is always fun, and about six months ago when I did my most recent promo shots, I rediscovered the joy of posing.

Now the organizers of the Social Media Divas Pinup Calendar Contest have asked me to take part… and hey, why not?  I love the classy old-style pinup photo, and I always went for the classic look when I was modeling.

Of course, I can’t enter those old pictures in the contest, but I thought I’d have a bit of fun with it all.

After all, social networking is fun, internet marketing is fun, and pinup modeling is fun… and since this is a pinup contest for social network marketers, how much more fun could we have?

Watch my YouTube video that I just created using a really cool new online tool (come back tomorrow for more details on how you can use it)…

I’m Twitter-Pated

There was a song in an old Disney movie that we learned in Grade 3:

Everything is Twitter-pated in the spring,
Skunks smell sweet, rabbits sing.
Daffodils go daffy when the bluebells ring,
Cuz everyone’s in love!

I’m not sure if that’s how Twitter got its name, but I know it IS easy to get infatuated with the thing… I joined up within seconds had a ton of people following me.  I watched it go from 20 to 24 to 42 to… well, you can find out how many it is now by checking out my profile.

Yes, that’s right… I finally signed up for Twitter.  It’s an experiment to see what its usefulness really is…

So far I can see that the back link to this blog is great for SEO considerations, and in turn the back link from this blog to my Twitter page will help get traffic there.

And it’s pretty cool that I connected with several people that I haven’t talked to in awhile, and did so within the first few minutes of creating my profile… before my picture was even uploaded.

And it’s fun to read the little messages that people put up, and to answer them back.  Then again, I can see how that could become a huge time waster (like I need something to waste my time when it’s at a premium right now… my computer time is handled in chunks in between feeding, changing and playing with Konan, when he’s sleeping and I should be too!)

Of course, if those messages are used for business purposes, it could get valuable back links AND drive real human traffic to whatever website you want to “Twitter” about.

And if they’re for personal reasons, it’s a lot better than chat because you can communicate with just one or two messages to several people in only a few minutes, rather than getting caught up in an hour-long conversation with one.

Still, I’ll wait before I recommend it to Barry, because he doesn’t see the point, and I need to be able to give a definitive endorsement first.

A Special Day…

Today is a very special day!

First of all, it’s my birthday… and not just any birthday, but the big 4-0!

They say 40 is the new 30, and funny enough I feel better about turning 40 than I did about turning 30.  And don’t get me started on turning 20, that was very traumatic! ;)

But it’s also special because something happened that thousands have been anxiously awaiting… my buddy Vince Tan just launched his history-making Biggest Firesale, which is now live for a very short time.

Believe it or not, he’s spent the better part of a year convincing over 100 top marketers (including Barry and myself… also our friends and colleagues Ian Del Carmen, Harris Fellman, Kevin Wilke, Simon Leung, Eric Holmlund, Ewen Chia, Jason James, Jeff Wellman, Frank Sousa, Terry Dean, Reed Floren, Joel Comm, and a ton of others) to put their best-selling products into this Firesale.

Yeah… not just regular “crap”, but products that we all sell for real money, every day! (Phew! Nice work, Vince!  I thought I had a busy year!)

Yes, he had to bribe, plead, beg, twist arms, and generally continually bug marketers to get involved.  It’s not easy to make someone give away their best products!

And I have to tell you that the end result is AMAZING.

I have never seen an offer like this before… over $9,000 worth of marketing and personal development products, just waiting for you to practically steal them (and I do mean STEAL).

There’s no way for me to do this offer the justice it deserves by writing about it here — so go ahead and see for yourself what Vince managed to pull off for you with his Biggest Firesale.

Time-Saving Tools 4 U

Sometimes it seems like marketing online takes an engineering degree, doesn’t it?

I mean, you’ll find lots of experts that will tell you they do it all themselves, and you get the impression that you have to do it all too… that not only is it essential to build a list, but to get that done you also must build your own webpages, edit your own HTML, install your own testing and tracking software, and so on and so forth.

Lead Page Generator

But what if I told you that wasn’t the case… and that I have three tools to make marketing life much easier for you?

Tool #1) Lead Page Generator

In fact, what if I told you that Barry and I just found the ultimate lead capture page builder that does it all for you, in about 5 minutes, including all the testing and tracking you’ll ever need to ensure you have the most effective landing pages possible?

But wait, it gets even better… this cool new tool, LeadPageGenerator 4.0 also “customizes” and “personalizes” your opt-in page for you, Web 2.0-style!

I’ve interviewed several top marketers who have done their own testing, and claim that personalizing your page increases conversions many times over.  Things like having the prospect’s name appear on the page, AND responding to their personal choices that they enter themselves.

Basically, it allows them to tell you what buying triggers would make them buy from your website… and it allows you to offer them exactly that!

So using LeadPageGenerator 4.0 can put your list-building efforts into hyper-overdrive, with just a few minutes of your own effort!

And you can bet your bottom dollar that Barry and I will be using this service for our squeeze pages from now on.

Why?

Because it will save us time, AND money! It’s all about leverage, baby! ;)

For two more cool marketing tools…
