The Only Hamster Table In Town…

Last night Barry and I went out for Valentine’s Day dinner.

We didn’t know where we were going to go, because by the time Barry called for reservations, everywhere was booked up (in a town of allegedly only 35,000 people — go figure!)

So we just dropped by one place that we’ve been to a few times before, and where we spent part of our New Year’s Eve too…

And wouldn’t you know it, we get the only table in town with hamsters painted on it!Heather and hamsters

This is interesting because one of the pet names that Barry calls me is Hamster… and because I gave him a silver necklace for Valentine’s Day that has a dog tag on it, engraved with a message — and part of that message is “Bear & Hamster”.

(Okay, I know these are probably supposed to be field mice and not hamsters… but they are truly the only ones in town, AND… come on, they look like hamsters!)

So not only did we manifest a nice dinner at a nice restaurant, with no reservations and when every restaurant was booked solid for weeks… but we also manifested it at a table with some symbolic meaning for us.

Never underestimate the power of thought… or what you might feel is a “coincidence”.

The word is synchronicty.

Monksters, and Valentines, and Bears… Oh, My!

A week ago, I was getting ready for LASIK surgery the next day. And I did it — something I had been wanting to do for a long time — but my eyes aren’t healing as quickly as normal, so as a result my vision is still a bit fuzzy. That’s why I haven’t blogged in a week, but I’ll post an update as soon as I’ve got my X-ray vision operating in full power! ;-)

In the meantime, it’s Valentine’s Day… and of course I have to write about that!

Love is the most powerful manifesting emotion there is. Love allows us to overcome all adversity, and wind up in a better, more secure, and happier place as a result.

And as you know, Valentine’s Day is all about love.

MonksterThis morning Bear gave me a stuffed Monkster… Funny, I usually call him “Barry” when I write about him, but it’s always just “Bear” when we’re talking.

My latest nickname, Monkster, came about because if he was Bear, I needed a fuzzy animal name, and that became Hamster since it’s closest to Heather (and I love rodents)…

Then Hamster evolved into Monkster because I’m a Monkey (by Chinese Astrology, but also just because I get into mischeif)… but I’m still a Hamster too.

(Monkey + Hamster = Monkster)

And in looking for a stuffed Monkster, Bear found this little red guy…

The face is all monkey, but the head is pretty hamster-ish… and there’s no tail, so that’s more hamster than monkey too.

To seal the deal, he’s holding a heart that says “Our First Valentine”.

Cute, and appropriate!

Little tokens of love like this are great reminders of the bigger picture — and they allow you to conjure up those loving feelings that allow you to manifest more of what you desire.

Speaking of loving feelings… Bear just finished editing our second in a 2-part series of videos we call “Love Without Limits” (you can watch Part 1 by clicking here…)

And Part 2 by clicking the link below:

Soul Mates and Self-Esteem

What does February have to do with soul mates?

Okay, you probably already know the answer.

What about self-esteem?

Find out how the two tie together — and into February — on my latest blog post at LWL Worldwide.

The Rainbow After The Rain

On Friday I wrote about a metaphorically “rainy” day in my life

“Everyone wants happiness, no one wants pain, but you can’t make a rainbow without a little rain.”

So since you have to experience the downs before the ups — the rain before the rainbow — now, here’s the rainbow!

It’s a video that Barry made of just a bit of our life together… working, playing, loving and living (thanks to Lifehouse for the music that seems to fit so well!)

Everybody deserves a soul mate that can be their partner on this journey through life, whether it rains or shines.

If you’re looking for your own soul mate, you might also want to pay attention to the website at the end of the video… LoveUnwrapped.com

And now… Lights, Camera… Action!

27 Arguments

27 DressesOkay, I admit it… life isn’t always “perfect”.

Well, that’s not entirely true… it’s “perfect” for what “perfect” is, meaning perfectly as it’s meant to be.

It’s just not “perfect” the way most people define “perfect”, especially certain students — and even teachers — in the spiritual growth arena, who tend to think (or at least give the impression) that we’re supposed to be 100% positive, all the time.

24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Never get angry, never get upset, never show any emotions that could possibly be construed as “negative”… because that’s not what spirituality, personal development, or self growth is all about.

Right?

Well, actually, that’s a dangerous trap to fall into. And I admit, I have fallen into that trap on more than one occasion… thinking that if I argue with someone, or we get angry at each other, that things are falling apart and something is not as it “should” be.

But everything happens for a reason, even if that reason is just a darned good learning experience.

And although it’s a “should” in itself (kinda ironic), we should never “should” on ourselves.

Life is a spectrum of emotions, a spectrum of experiences, and a spectrum of ups and downs. That’s how it’s meant to be.

And in case you’re wondering what the heck the new movie 27 Dresses has to do with all this… read on, and I’ll fill in the blanks before long…

A Powerful Relationship Blessing

LoveBarry and I spent the past few nights doing a powerful ceremony called a “Relationship or Wedding Blessing”.

It was given to us for Christmas “from Cupid”… in fact, we gave each other and ourselves as a couple several gifts with tags that said “from The Universe” or “from Cupid”.

It’s a great way to deal with the fact that, if you’re like me, you often see things that you yourself would like when Christmas shopping for other people. But if it was something we knew both of us would like, we gave it to both of us “from the Universe.”

I picked it up from a local metaphysical store, but it comes from EyeOfTheDay.com.

They have a lot of little ceremony kits, actually… but if you’d like to do it on your own, from scratch, here’s how to do it…

I’m Dreaming of a White… Post-Boxing Day?

As I sit here in my office, snow is falling outside my window.

Yeah, snow… but for the first time since I’ve been in Oregon.

Oh, there’s snow in other towns around here… apparently the ones that are at a higher altitude, even if they’re further south. But here in Grants Pass, nestled safely in a valley surrounded by fairly low mountains, there has been nothing.

Back in Toronto, apparently they had several feet of snow weeks ago.

And it’s kind of nice to be in a warmer climate. I’ve never been a lover of the cold (just ask anyone who has seen my fingers turn white and ice cold, just when the indoor temperature drops a few degrees).

I’m just used to a white Christmas. I think I’ve maybe had one green Christmas my whole life… until now.

And all the Christmas movies we see, all the decorations and holiday-inspired scenery, feature snow as a continuous theme.

Then again, all around the world, people have Christmas without snow.

Be Merry and Grateful

Barry and Heather - Xmas hatsBarry and I have finished unwrapping our gifts… and loving every one of them.

(Here we are wearing our Santa hats and Christmas colors, very casual for the occasion.)

This is such a great time of year to be grateful, and we made sure to be grateful for each and every gift that we received, as well as for the opportunity to give them to each other.

Last night his family came by for a Christmas Eve party and gift-giving session, and it went great. I spent all day making hors d’oeuvres and dinner, but it was worth every minute, and I’m grateful to be accepted into his family.

Life is great when you’re surrounded with family, friends and loved ones, and have reasons to appreciate what you have.

We all have things to appreciate… it’s just a matter of finding them and feeling the gratitude so we can attract more of it.

Feeling the Holiday Spiritual Spirit

Last night I went to my meditation circle, and we did a special gift-giving session. Everybody meditated on the others’ essences of their higher selves, and the “gift” was telling each person what sense we had about them, and what we appreciated about them.

Even if not done in conjunction with meditation, and looking for spiritual answers from a higher plane when we don’t necessarily know those people well on a social level, this can be a very powerful exercise.

All you need to do is go around a circle or group, focusing on one person at a time. Each of the others in the group take turns telling that one person why he or she is important to them, what qualities he or she has that they admire, and what exactly they appreciate about him or her.

It’s great to do at Thanksgiving, or at Christmas, or at a Birthday… but it’s perhaps even more special on just any old day.

There are two things that this exercise accomplishes for the person receiving the gift:

1. It makes them feel good to be appreciated and have people point out in public what makes them special.

2. It puts into perspective the qualities that others see in them, and allows them to take stock of themselves and understand better how they come across.

But, giving is just as valuable as receiving. There are also two things that this exercise accomplishes for us, the gift-giver:

1. It makes us focus deeply on another person, their essence and the spiritual and mental gifts and talents, which gets us into the habit of recognizing the good in others.

2. It puts the focus on gratitude, and we know that gratitude is one of the most powerful manifesting emotions available.

There were only a few of us at the meditation circle, because of the holiday season, so it was really special to be able to connect with them on a deep level. Then we went out to celebrate ourselves at a local sushi bar, where I discovered more to be grateful for…

The One Universe Pose

We are all part of one Universe.

But at the same time, we are all centers of our own Universe.

Yes, that’s right… the Universe truly does revolve around you (at least, your Universe does).

But while it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle, the bustle, and the separateness of life… Barry and I have gotten into a habit of starting the day with what we now dub “The One Universe Pose”.

You can do it standing up, but it seems to work better for us lying down. And the aim is to get so close, and hug so tightly, that you physically feel completely connected, not just on the outside, but deep down to the soul.

The embrace should be one that allows you to actually feel like you’re one, like your spirits are entwined into one mass as your arms encircle each other.

At this point, imagine that your two Universes have come together and joined into one, as your bodies, hearts and souls have joined together too.

You don’t have to squeeze too hard… you just need to feel the strength of the bond.

Visualizing your two beings as one will also help, and it’s a great way to get grounded and start the day from a place of love, gratitude, and appreciation for yourself and your partner.

Go ahead, be the center of somebody else’s Universe for a few moments, as well as your own.
