{"id":1429,"date":"2010-10-10T10:27:07","date_gmt":"2010-10-10T18:27:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/?p=1429"},"modified":"2023-04-17T16:12:16","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T00:12:16","slug":"10-10-10-the-perfect-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/10\/10-10-10-the-perfect-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"10-10-10: The Perfect Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=https:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/10\/10-10-10-the-perfect-anniversary\/&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=1&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;font=\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:25px\"><\/iframe><iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fheathervale.com%2Fblog%2F2010%2F10%2F10%2F10-10-10-the-perfect-anniversary%2F&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=true&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;height=80\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:80px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><p><a href=\"http:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BHWedding-10-sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1432\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px; float: left;\" title=\"Barry and Heather get married\" src=\"http:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BHWedding-10-sm-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BHWedding-10-sm-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/BHWedding-10-sm.jpg 384w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Today, October 10th, 2010, is our wedding anniversary: 10-10-10.<\/p>\n<p>Until now, we haven&#8217;t seemed to share the date with many couples.<\/p>\n<p>After all, traditionally people get married in the summer, and according to an article in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/pg\/05167\/522247.stm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pittsburgh Post-Gazette<\/a>, Hallmark says August is now the number one month for weddings, followed by June, July, September&#8230; and October in 5th place.<\/p>\n<p>But when Barry and I got married two years ago, we liked the 10-10 date. <strong>It had the symbolism of making the wedding and the marriage a perfect 10.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, it seems, thousands of couples agree with us, as they rush to the altar today (and aim for the 10:10 a.m. time &#8212; which happens to be exactly when I&#8217;m writing this &#8212; to get a full 10-10-10-10-10).<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/femail\/article-1318497\/Perfect-A-unique-wedding-date-sparks-rush-marry-romantic-couples.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London Daily Mail<\/a> posted an article saying that over 31,000 couples are planning to get hitched today, so churches and registries have been booked up for months.<\/p>\n<p>In Singapore, a normal Sunday will host 70 weddings, but today &#8212; appropriately enough &#8212; it&#8217;s over ten times that amount: 774.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously during this decade we&#8217;ve had numerous triple-digit dates,  starting with 1-1-1 in 2001, and the trend will continue until 12-12-12  in 2012&#8230; then they&#8217;re gone until the year 3001.<\/p>\n<p>7-7-7 was an  incredibly popular wedding date too, since it contained three lucky  sevens, like a winning pull on a one-armed bandit.<\/p>\n<p>8-8-8 was even luckier for the Chinese, and 9-9-9 had that nice  mathematical symmetry too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s so special about 10-10-10?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Well, it&#8217;s also lucky in the Chinese culture, because 10 represents perfection or completion &#8212; or a perfect completion &#8212; according to the ancient &#8220;I Ching&#8221;, says an article on <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/livescience\/20101009\/sc_livescience\/whatssospecialaboutthedate101010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo! News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some people say it also represents triple happiness, or three perfect tens &#8212; all bringing a great vibe to enter a marriage with.<\/p>\n<p>And personally, I&#8217;d rather be a 10 than a 9, 8 or 7.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, &#8220;perfection&#8221; doesn&#8217;t mean that life is full of all ups with no downs; &#8220;perfection&#8221; is actually a balance of both up and down, high and low, dark and light&#8230; which is how the Universe always operates.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The key is dealing with both in a healthy way, and having fun while riding the roller coaster of life.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So as tens of thousands of couples rack up this date as their anniversary, we welcome them to our 10-10 club (after all, their wedding might be on 10-10-10, but their anniversaries will forever be 10-10, just like ours).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>And we wish them the best of luck and happiness on this lucky, happy day.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for proof that 10-10-10 is lucky and happy&#8230; all I can say is, the weather forecast called for rain this weekend, but as I look out our window in beautiful Southern Oregon, I can&#8217;t see a cloud in the bright, sunny sky.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Triple happiness indeed!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So&#8230; happy, happy, happy anniversary, Big Bear!<\/p>\n<p>(Or, as Ren and Stimpy would say, &#8220;Happy, happy, happy&#8230; joy, joy, joy!&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep Unwrapping the Mysteries of Life!<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Heather Vale Goss\" src=\"http:\/\/heathervale.com\/images\/sigHVG_2.1_blue.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"205\" height=\"35\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today, October 10th, 2010, is our wedding anniversary: 10-10-10.
