{"id":72,"date":"2007-11-18T19:25:31","date_gmt":"2007-11-19T03:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/18\/go-heather-its-my-birthday\/"},"modified":"2023-04-17T16:24:50","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T00:24:50","slug":"go-heather-its-my-birthday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/18\/go-heather-its-my-birthday\/","title":{"rendered":"Go Heather, It&#8217;s My Birthday&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=https:\/\/heathervale.com\/blog\/2007\/11\/18\/go-heather-its-my-birthday\/&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=1&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;font=\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:25px\"><\/iframe><iframe src=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fheathervale.com%2Fblog%2F2007%2F11%2F18%2Fgo-heather-its-my-birthday%2F&amp;layout=standard&amp;show_faces=true&amp;width=450&amp;action=like&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;height=80\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:80px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><p>Today is my birthday.<\/p>\n<p>The first birthday I&#8217;ve ever spent in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>The first birthday I&#8217;ve had with Barry as my partner&#8230; and that perk came complete with a full weekend of celebration, a nice dinner, some wine, and several beautiful presents that I&#8217;m very grateful for.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, I&#8217;ve been loving every minute of it.<\/p>\n<p>I remember a few years ago, a co-worker of mine who turned 25 said something to the effect of, &#8220;When you get to be my age, you don&#8217;t count the birthdays anymore.&#8221; And of course he was more than 10 years younger than me when he said it.<\/p>\n<p>Not only that, but I had asked him if he was going to use a &#8220;personal day&#8221; (days off that we had to use or else lose) for his birthday, and he knew that I had done that on mine&#8230; so his answer didn&#8217;t make sense, because if I was still celebrating birthdays at my age, why shouldn&#8217;t he be at his?<\/p>\n<p>Well, it&#8217;s mostly about the mindset.<\/p>\n<p>I find a lot of people put a big weight on their age, and they allow the numbers to affect how they feel.<\/p>\n<p>For me, I focus on how I feel first.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--> I&#8217;m constantly being told that I look younger than I am.<\/p>\n<p>And the reason for that is, I <em>feel<\/em> younger than I am.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, just like with manifesting anything you want&#8230; the <em>feelings<\/em> are really key to creating the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Because I feel 10 years younger than I am, people often think I&#8217;m 10 years younger than I am.<\/p>\n<p>I never say anything like, &#8220;I&#8217;m getting old,&#8221; or &#8220;I feel old,&#8221; which I constantly hear even 21-year-olds say.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Because you create your reality.<\/p>\n<p>Saying, &#8220;I feel old,&#8221; and really <em>feeling<\/em> old, will ensure you <em>are<\/em> old.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Since visiting the States numerous times over the past six months, I have been carded at restaurants more times than I remember.<\/p>\n<p>In Las Vegas, when the doorman at <strong>Coyote Ugly<\/strong> asked to see my ID, I asked him how old you have to be&#8230; and he said gruffly, &#8220;21 to get in, but you have to show ID until you&#8217;re 40.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Oh, then next year I won&#8217;t have to,&#8221; I said, with a twinkle in my eye.<\/p>\n<p>He did a double take, looked again at my ID, did the math, and said, &#8220;You&#8217;re kidding!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>People have been looking for the fountain of youth for years.  Centuries, actually.  And all along, it was inside them&#8230; just like the ability to create your world.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It&#8217;s literally about being <em>young at heart<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This may be the only place on the web where you&#8217;ll see my real age, because I don&#8217;t encourage focusing on numbers and often play with the year on things like my <a href=\"http:\/\/myspace.com\/hvale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MySpace<\/a> profile&#8230; but I&#8217;m now 39, just one year shy of the next big milestone.<\/p>\n<p>And I intend to keep thinking young, and feeling young, for years to come&#8230; in the spirit of this quote, from <strong>Alphaville<\/strong>, one of my favorite bands from my teenage years:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Youth&#8217;s like diamonds in the sun,<br \/>\nAnd diamonds are forever.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And just for a little nostalgia, here&#8217;s the video:<\/p>\n<span class=\"vvqbox vvqyoutube\" style=\"width:425px;height:335px;\"><span id=\"vvq-72-youtube-1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=n7CuJ8cR9sg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.youtube.com\/vi\/n7CuJ8cR9sg\/0.jpg\" alt=\"YouTube Preview Image\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span>\n<p>The key is, when watching old videos, don&#8217;t think, &#8220;This makes me feel old,&#8221; or &#8220;I&#8217;m showing my age.&#8221; Just listen in the spirit that you did then&#8230; the spirit of being Forever Young.<\/p>\n<p>After all, speaking of spirit&#8230; several years on earth is just a short blink when you look at the big picture of what your spirit has lived and experienced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep Unwrapping the Mysteries of Life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/heathervale.com\/images\/heather_sig.jpg\" title=\"Heather Vale\" alt=\"Heather Vale\" height=\"31\" width=\"185\" \/> <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is my birthday.
