Whenever things don’t go the way I want them to, I sing this Bon Jovi song to myself.
It reminds me of the power I have to “adapt, overcome and improvise,” which is a Goss family slogan we borrowed from a Clint Eastwood movie (and the Marines).
It reminds me to look for the positive side of a situation, since every event has two sides.
And it reminds me of my ability to take back control:
“If there’s one thing I hang onto,
That gets me through the night.
I ain’t gonna do what I don’t want to,
I’m gonna live my life
Shining like a diamond, rolling with the dice,
Standing on the ledge, I show the wind how to fly.
When the world gets in my face,
I say, Have A Nice Day.”– Bon Jovi, Have a Nice Day
