In Toronto — where I spent 20 years of my life, starting at the formative age of 17 — there is a very varied multicultural society.
It’s not unusual to hear about this Jewish Party, and that Greek Festival, and the parties and events in Chinatown and Little Italy… and that’s just the beginning.
And of course, the most popular restaurants serve food from one country or another, rather than a mixture of tastes.
Everything is divided up, and people refer to areas of the city by what cultural group tends to have congregated there.
Basically, it seems that people love to segregate themselves.
And it’s not just based on culture… they do it based on gender too. This Women’s Group, that Men’s Society, etc. etc.
So what about when it comes to teachers… does gender really matter?
Barry and I asked that question — and drew some conclusions — on our LWL Worldwide blog here.
